Tax break encouraging buyers to ‘traditional’ village

JUST five houses remain in the Bleach Fields scheme in Milltown, Co Kerry, which has a selection of traditional dwellings and an onsite, interpretive centre.

The village, which has a thatch, slate and corrugated iron roof line, also carries tax relief which, perhaps, explains the fast pick-up for the scheme.

A €4 million development has just ten cottages but also includes a gift shop, bistro and underground visitor attraction.

Each cottage sleeps four to six people and has been fitted out to four- star Fáilte Ireland standards. The scheme is also fully landscaped and there’s an on-site manager.

Prices start at €230,000 including fit-out, but excluding VAT.

The selling agent is John Hickie of Premier Corporate Services in Tralee, Co Kerry.

The interpretive centre gives access to a 3,000-year-old well, which was once part of the linen trade in Milltown, and this should be a major draw for the project, says the agent, John Hickie.
