Housing options to suit families

THERE’S a floor plan to suit lively and growing families on offer at a niche house launch in Glanmire in Cork.

A dozen large-ish detached homes to cater for families keen to trade-up are being sold by Sherry FitzGerald, to a fresh new house design by architect Richard Rainey which will have an instant appeal to those looking for living space.

Developers O’Flynn Construction are building 15 detached houses with three already sold, at prices of E360,000 and E385,000.

The scheme, called Glyntown Road, is on the edge of the highly successful development Marwood, where O’Flynn Construction have built about 250 houses in a just completed project with only a few showhouses left to sell there.

The more expensive of the two house designs at Glyntown Road are 1,915 sq ft, with a kitchen/dining room across the back measuring 32’, with a gas stove fireplace at the opposite end to the kitchen units. The flow doesn’t stop there: there’s a family room on the gable wall with a glazed door access, which gives another 11’ of width, so there’s a 43’ views across the well-conceived space.

The ground floor also has a separate family room with bay window, a study/play room, a guest WC, utility room and good sized hall. Overhead are four bedrooms, two with en suite shower rooms, and main bathroom.

The smaller house type, 1,590 sq ft, also has a kitchen/dining 26’ by 13’ across the back, it has the same connection to a family room, larger living room, and good hall with guest WC and cloakroom.

It too has four bedrooms, with ensuite main bathroom.

Site sizes are one-sixth of an acre, and demand will be very strong given the shortage of detached houses in the Glanmire area, predicts Trish Stokes of Sherry FitzGerald.
