Fernhill Woods is an 44-house scheme off the Western road in Clonakilty, Co Cork, and is close to the new Dunnes Stores shopping centre and the bypass road. So popular is Clon that prices are on a par with Cork city, and in this scheme, townhouses start at €312,000.

And the demand has been huge, says selling agent, Henry O’Leary, of Property Partners, Henry O’Leary, who has just five houses left in a release of 20 units. These three to four bed semis and town houses have generous proportions ranging from 1,142 square feet to 1,350 and there is one townhouse left with 1,300 square feet of space, says the agent.

Located on what he describes as a ‘the most prestigious address in town’, the land was initially purchased for around 1m an acre. The houses bound the ‘Ard Alainn’ estate, a low-density development of 12 houses where homes are now fetching prices close to three-quarters of a million, says Mr O’Leary.

The first phase of Fernhill Woods should be ready for occupation by the end of the year, says Mr O’Leary and there will be a total of 44 houses. The design, which includes (when it’s complete) the signature stone frontage of Clonakilty new builds, is by PRC Architects of Blackrock, Cork.
