Across the tracks and in need of some work

FRESH from the sale of the impeccably restored, number 18 Myrtle Hill Terrace, on Cork’s Lower Glanmire Road, Derrick Gerety of Andrew Moore and Co is now handling the sale of number 6, further down the same row.

Across the tracks and in need of some work

And while this house is in good condition and has been in the same family hands for over 30 years, it will need some work, mostly decorative. Re-wired and re-roofed, the house is a three-storey south facing property that was built in 1862 and has the hallmarks of the period.

High ceilings, an original doorcase and a south-facing location looking over Cork’s version of Battersea Power Station, are all part of the pluses. One of the minuses is that the area is still only a blip on the location radar, but, as Mr Gerety puts it: “Once the poodles are being walked, you know an area is on the way up.”

He’s selling number 6 for the get-in-early price of €285,000, considerably less than the €335,000 guide for number 18.

Mr Gerety is confident that this house will appeal to the single/couple end of the market who can afford the time and energy for a makeover project, while enjoying the walk-to-town benefits.

There’s a garden to the front and the house has 1,400 square feet.
