Semi will put you on top of the world

TIME to hit the decks, fire up the barbie and crack open the cans when you get home to Ardnalee in Cobh it has a top of the world feel with Cork harbour at its footsteps.

The Victorian style semi-detached home is up for sale with a €350,000 price tag, and the stunning views of the harbour, Spike Island, maritime comings all come for free.

Outdoor decking has been a fashion trend in the last five years; while there are some sites it's all but wasted on, Ardnalee is a case where the setting calls for the metaphorical boat to be pushed out at.

It is pitch-perfect for decking, in its lofty crow's nest perch on Lake Road, and the occupants went to town on the deck size with its south facing aspect.

The house dates to about 1910, according to estate agent Johanna Murphy, so it straddles late Victorian and Edwardian design periods, and has a double height bay window to the front topped with a neat finial.

Internally, it has lots of retained architectural features, such as cornicing, fireplaces, front porch, floor tiling etc.

Rooms include sitting room with bay window for bay views, dining room with kitchen access, a sleek kitchen with stainless steel trim and pale wood units.

There's also a pantry and utility, ground floor WC with shower, and a rear courtyard with out-houses and elevated rear garden with extension potential.

The upper level of the house has three double bedrooms, one with a bay window, and a main bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub.

Ardnalee has oil central heating, and replacement PVC double glazing, with polished woods in most of the rooms.

"It's a great family house for anyone looking for a bit of character in their home, and the views are immense," said Ms Murphy who added that viewers to date had been very impressed by the house.
