Pick your way through orchard purchase

AN orchard of old, lichened apple trees on the main Rochestown road is new to the market this week with Pierce Cuthbert of Property Choice.

This former garden is now being offered as a site, and although the boards are hardly up a wet week, there’s been a flurry of interest already, he says.

And why? This one-sixth of an acre site comes with outline planning for a single-storey dwelling on the hugely desirable, but dense area where sites are rare. This is Rochestown road and as this site is quite near the roundabout, it has the maturity, the address and the ease of access to Douglas, Mahon and city.

Just down the way a site of a tenth of an acre was making close to €300,000, before it was taken off the market, which meant there should be a good cohort of buyers for this new arrival. Pierce Cuthbert is looking for offers in excess of €395,000 for this property.
