WHAT’S the opposite of ‘between a rock and a hard place?’ Whatever it might be, the house Beltra has it in positive location terms, set as it is between the water’s edge and a commuter train station.

The detached, compact house is facing onto the tidal pull of the Lee and Cork harbour at Marino Villas, on Great Island, with steps at the end of the garden to a rocky section of shoreline.

It is almost directly across the road from Carrigaloe rail station, on the Cork-Cobh rail-line, a southern equivalent of the DART, colloquially known as the CART.
