An Post lightens its grip on prime sites in two cities

But, while the postal service is selling up 0.6 acres, its former sorting office, it won't totally be a case of "no longer at this address": the An Post retail branch will be unaffected by the sell-off.

The period style industrial building has 27,000 sq ft of space close to O'Connell Street, with attractive facades and a deep site.

Selling agents are Insignia Richard Ellis Gunne, and while a price is not disclosed the expectation it that it should make c€2 million.

It is currently zoned for commercial usage, but residential may be considered subject to planning, say the agents who have an architectural survey of theproperty.

An Post is also selling its post office at Main Street, Blackrock, in Dublin, with over 8,000 sq ft of space and keen interest expected, also around the €2m level.

Later this year, An Post is expected to put its Cork city sorting office, on a large urban site beside City Hall and the link road, up for sale, which will also be a major multi-million euro spinner.
