A home for those who are seeking a more mature look

GROWTH in traffic and the spread in new housing on the city’s fringes and beyond has given an added value to inner suburban city homes.

A home for those who are seeking a more mature look

Houses in mature suburbs within a relatively easy strike of the city centre are seeing their values bolstered by the sheer convenience of location, and that's one of the advantages coming with Rostrevor, a four-bed semi just a week on the market in Beaumont Crescent in Cork.

The Crescent has had that 'sought-after' tag for years, and has a mix of attractive house types set just off the busier through road in Beaumont.

On the edge of the Crescent is Rostrevor, a 1,400 sq ft mature semi in good condition, with a large side garden thanks to its corner site, which gives room for extension, possibly incorporating an existing attached garage which currently doesn't have direct access to the house (although some houses on the Crescent have possible house sites behind or to the side, this house's site is probably to small to see such further value in for intending buyers.)

There's a corner shop 50 yards away, schools are a couple of minutes walk, there's a bus service, the Marina is close-by, and the city is an energetic walk or cycle via Blackrock Road.

Peter Cave of Hamilton Osborne King quotes a price guide of E375,000 for Rostrevor which in any case doesn't need immediate spending, as it has a relatively new fitted kitchen and oil central heating with windows replaced with double glazing.

Accommodation includes two reception rooms, one with fireplace, the other with PVC double doors to a rear patio, kitchen with pantry, guest loo in a utility area by the back porch, and three of the four bedrooms are doubles in size.

Ten yards away on Dundanion Road, a similar vintage three/four bed detached bungalow with Sherry FitzGerald is under active offer at E370,000 after some 50 viewings.
