A dambuster of an agricultural property near Inniscarra

LAUNCHED on the market late last summer and with a price tag of €650,000, a 30-acre holding at Currabeg, Ovens is now to go for auction on March 3.

The land and its old farmhouse made headlines in the heady property year of 2000 when it sold for a phenomenal £360,000.

Since then, the development of the site has been severely hampered by its wonderful location.

Set overlooking the Dam at Inniscarra, the property has frontage directly on to the water almost 400 yards. Since the new development plan was finalised late last year, this area is now designated a Natural Heritage Area, with severe restrictions on agricultural methods and residential development.

The farm now comes with planning permission for renovation of the existing, old farmhouse with a cap of 50 square metres on any extension, bringing the total allowable development to just under 1,400 square metres.
