The Highlands a large gem with spectacular views

LARGE, detached houses in the western suburbs don’t come up for sale that often, so the pre-Christmas lull should be livened up with the sale of 8, The Highlands in Passage West, Co Cork.
The Highlands a large gem with spectacular views

In an estate high over the town, this property is in superb condition and has been completely modernised inside.

New wooden floors gleam, there’s a spanking oak kitchen, doors are pine and a whopping sunroom has been added to the back. But it’s the views that will capture the visitor, says Jean Shanahan of DNG Harris, auctioneers.

They take a 180-degree scope of the lower harbour and are ‘fantastic’. It has 2,000 square feet of space, four bedrooms, as well two living rooms, a conservatory, kitchen diner and three bathrooms, including en suite.

And there’s a built-barbie ‘round the back, where you can also drive the car, and driveway is hard-surfaced. A development of one-off houses, the Highlands lives up the ‘leafy suburb’ description and now that the lower harbour is changing, the area is much more in demand, says Ms Shanahan.

IFI is being dismantled by a Chilean firm and has been sold to a Dublin/Cork consortium who may be planning an integrated residential and leisure development on the superb, south-facing site.

And if this were to happen values would rise all over the area.

Jean Shanahan is looking for offers in the region of €530,000.
