Anchors aweigh as Kinsale house offers a mooring

WHAT with the sale of the award-winning Bulman bar to multi-multi-millionaire property developer Gerry Gannon in the last month, who’ll now line up to bid on the facing residential property the Anchorage?

The 2,750 sq ft waterside home, anchored practically to the sea wall and with a mooring just off it, had as previous owners movie director Pat O'Connell and actress Mary Elizabeth Mastroantonio.

Super-rich Dublin property developer Gerry Gannon came to the fore in the recent 2 million-plus purchase of the Bulman.

Gannon's purchase may be for family or friends: he already owns a €1.5 million weekend home near Charles Fort.

The Anchorage, coincidentally being sold by its current owners who own the Spaniard pub another classic Kinsale bar carries a €950,000 price guide with Thomas J O'Driscoll auctioneers in Cork city (as well as with several local Kinsale agents), and Philip Horgan of O'Driscolls says it is "a mixture of old world charm and modern convenience, in immaculate condition throughout."

Hall, drawing room and living room have oak floors and fireplaces, the dining room and views-packed sun room have tiled floors, and much of the ground level has cosy underfloor heating.

The smart kitchen has an Aga and granite toped units, there's a utility and cloakroom, the master bedroom overhead is split level with views, has a dressing room and an en suite, there's a main bathroom and two more bedrooms at the uppermost level.

The terrace overlooks the water's edge, pier and adjoining slipway, a popular point for summer visitors. There's a garage for reserved parking close by.
