Period home needs work

CAUGHT in mid-thought looking at the river and boating view from 2, Glenbrook Villas in Cork harbour, estate agent Peter Skuse was greeted by a neighbour with the salutation “not for the faint-hearted.”

"He had come up on my starboard side, and I didn't know if he meant sea-faring, or the state of the house I was selling, but I suppose it applies equally to both," says the auctioneer, summoning his navigational skills as he directs buyers to the period home in need of TLC.

Best described as a manageable challenge, it needs full renovation, he says, but admits to falling for its charms itself.
