Permanent houses become a fixture at Owenahincha

LONG associated with fields of mobile homes, the tide is turning slightly in favour of permanent houses at Blue Flag beach Owenahincha in West Cork.

One scheme here, the 24-house Sandycove Beach development with holiday home tax breaks, is just finished construction, work is about to start on a second and separate development, and planning is about to be sought for a third project.

Fifteen houses in Cois Farraige, in three house types priced from E230,000, are being sold by South Western Property Services, with six already spoken for.

The development is near Cregane headland., which curves around to a cliff-top walk to Warren Strand.and leads on as a pleasant walk to Rosscarbery, which is just a couple of miles by the alternative road route.

Meanwhile, currently up for sale with both SWS and joint agent Barry Nagle of Global Properties is no 14 Sandy Beach, a three-bed townhouse in a holiday home scheme of 24 houses, which share facilities like a gym, play room, Jacuzzi and playground, instigated by developers Frinailla.

There’s one en suite bedroom plus two other bedrooms and main bathroom, hall, kitchen/dining and living room, units have Gold Shield heating and an alarm, and are just across the road from the Blue Flag awarded beach.

Price for no 14 is E210,000, if bought as a private venture, and if an investor wants to take the Section 38 holiday Home tax reliefs, the price is E250,000, with VAT and
