There’s a river at the end of the garden

ONE of a row of three-storey redbricks on Cork’s Western Road, 2, Inniscarrig also has an 150ft back garden which runs down the river Lee.

The row of houses is a Victorian in date and have a handy location close to Erinville Hospital and UCC, in fact, the main gates the University are close by.

Dennis Guerin of Frank V Murphy and Associates is selling no. 2 for offers in the region of €690,000.

The property has been let out for a number of years, so it’s not in terribly good condition but, according to Dennis Guerin, a lot of period features remains, including fireplaces, cornicing, doors and the like and it hasn’t been carved up into bedsits.

This would suggest that the house could be returned to private use, he says. It has seven bedrooms, over two floors, but one of these, the master, has been divided in two and could be returned to one single room facing north.

The house also faces full south to the rear and has pedestrian access at the back. However, it has no parking and the street outside is a clearway, so this could pose problems for private buyers.

An alternative would be a development of apartments within the confines of the buildings, which would appeal to investors or owner-occupiers.

Gas heating is installed and the house has a 22’ garden to the front, behind original gates and railings.
