Green light for summer home
A WEEK since Green Shutters hit the market in these pages, and the reaction has been as expected: strong, from a wide geographical base - and most people who are ringing for viewings already know the house.
Ardmore in west Waterford has that repeat visitor quality, families have holidayed here for generations.
Gorgeous Green Shutters has been a prized property in several ownerships, and previous occupants have included the Dwyer family of Sunbeam business fame in Cork, who’ve owned some of Ardmore’s best holiday homes, and the Dwan family from Tipperary who did much of the renewal work visible here, and who sold to the most recent owners.
It is now up for sale ready for summer 2006 occupation for new owners, and Cork city based estate agent Noelle Morrison guides the five-bed, 2,800 sq ft heavily timbered house at €950,000.
Calls have already been made for viewings from Dublin, all over Munster and closer to west Waterford as well. What it eventually sells for will come down to the determination of bidders.
“Most people who’ve been on so far seem to know the house, they have connections with Ardmore and it is a very distinctive and lovely property,” said Ms Morrison of the clap-board style, beach-view residence.
Green Shutters is on a site of a third of an acre in one of the pretty seaside village’s best locations.
