West Cork home is ideal summer retreat
The one-time home of band member, drummer and singer Denis O’Brien of the Carbery Trio, is up for sale, following two extraordinarily high sales results in the coastal locale.
Mr O’Brien’s family home is being sold by SWS Property Services, who give a guide of €225,000 by private treaty.
But, while that level seems alluring for a place on an acre near Roscarbery, there better be a caveat: the same estate agent had two record making sales in the general area in the past few months, where unprecedented bidding drove sales on ordinary enough properties with sea views to well over €500,000 each.
This two-bed, two storey house is within a short walk of Rosscarbery schools, shops, bars and restaurants and within a longer walk of the Warren strand, and could be bought equally as a summer/holiday home or full-time residence.
With two ground floor rooms, kitchen, bathroom and two overhead south-facing bedrooms, it needs modernisation, and extending, but has loads of appeal, has several old out buildings and making it over could be a real labour of love, without being too expensive a challenge.
