House a first since 1930s

THE first house to be built since the 1930s in Ashton Park, off the Blackrock Road in Cork city, will cost you €500,000 - but decide to buy now and you’ll get a chance to have an input into the finished product.

House a first since 1930s

That’s according to Ann O’Mahony of Sherry FitzGerald, who is marketing a 2,000 sq ft four-bed dormer bungalow, to be built on a site of 0.13 of an acre behind an existing residence in Ashton Park.

Location is close to Ashton School, and while houses haven’t crowded in here to this select cul-de-sac, a few small apartment schemes have.

his one-off site overlooks a new house development on the Boreenmana Road recently commenced by developer Pat Hegarty.

This particular opportunity came when Sherry FitzGerald sold off two sites with planning at Christmas time - and they netted a cool €500,000 or so for the vendors.

Now, the purchaser is set to develop at the back end of the site, and has started building a four-bed home for sale in between.

Meanwhile, nearby at Victoria Avenue, estate agent Andrew Moore and Co is selling a site with full planning for five terraced houses, four three-beds and one two-bed. Price for the site for five units is €600,000, and keen builder and developer interest is expected.
