Seagale’s lovely location ensures sale will be a breeze

DIRK COVE: it sounds like the sort of name given to a shady character in a trashy novel. In fact, Dirk Cove is a beautiful bay on the way to Galley Head in West Cork, and home to the somewhat ominously-titled Seagale Cottage.

Beneath the cottage, on the narrow cul de sac lane to Dirk Cove, is a much-extended seaside dwelling with a projecting glass wing which has won a clutch of UK and Irish design awards, giving a surprising profile to this quiet Clonakilty coastal setting.

And, while Seagale mightn’t be in the same rarified design echelon or water’s edge location, it does have one key advantage: its setting higher up the hill gets it out of the shaded, east-facing Dirk Cove, which the sun usually vacates by the afternoon.
