Guitar man to move on

THE estate of the late Jimi Hendrix is worth an estimated $300,000 million and growing, while the bass player with the legendary Jimi Hendrix Experience band is selling up his Irish home for the last 29 years to trade down to a cheaper place.

Guitar man to move on

Bass player Noel Redding has been living in Ardfield, near Clonakilty in West Cork since the early 1970s, having stumbled on this ancient seaside residence on Christmas Day - his birthday.

Redding’s musical roots may be rock and roll, but his physical roots are now in West Cork soil: he says he is looking to buy a much smaller home in the hinterland as he puts Dunowen House, possibly dating as far back as 1680, on the market. “My lady, she’s into the garden, I do the hoovering, but we don’t need a place this large,” he says in a droll insight to the domestic life and times of one of the 1960s biggest rockers.
