Strong bidding for old style semi

SET up by the top of the Well Road in Cork city, close to Lovetts restaurant, the revamped Silver Quay bar and restaurant and Cork Constitution, slightly overlooking Mahon golf club and estuary is the three-bed semi Dooneen.

Strong bidding for old style semi

It hit the market with a too-modest guide price, with offers sought in excess of €300,000, but within days was up to €330,000 and perhaps only starting its price trajectory.

House hunters in this mature Douglas area may have heard whispers about another fully renovated three-bed semi on a large corner site in Browningstown, which was expected to sell for around €360,000 and ended up in strong bidding topping €400,000.

Was that a one-off, or does it signal a massive surge in demand for these older style semis in easy to reach locations?

Dooneen too is on a quite large corner site and has seen recent spending on it: this includes part dry-lining, rewiring, double glazing and new fascia and soffits.

It backs on to a green area/play ground, has an attached garage, with tool store, large back garden and parking for up to three cars.

It has two reception rooms, separate kitchen, three bedrooms, one with fireplace, a main bathroom with both shower and bath, and has pull-down attic access.

Selling agent is Jarleth Boyd of Hamilton Osborne King, who anticipates strong demand for this property.
