Fall hook, line and sinker for this tasty cottage with river frontage

‘MAKE your dreams a reality’ is emblazoned across the top of the brochure for a rather anodyne-looking property at Borris in Co Carlow.

But look again and you see the reason for the hoo-ha six acres of river frontage onto the Barrow and overlooking Borris Weir as well.

This is a great fishing river with rainbow and brown trout, salmon and grilse all available in season. But that's not all, according to JJ Donohoe of ERA Donohoe Properties, the property for sale is just 12 miles from Mount Juliet, (average price for a pad there is around a million), and it's also good walking country.

The property for sale is set on seven acres and isn't really spectacular. In fact, the agents expect it could be demolished to make way for a more impressive property, considering the setting.

It's due to go to auction on October 10 next and the guide price given is in the region of €250,000 to €300,000, says Mr Donohoe.

Set in Milltown, the house is surrounded by Brandon Hill and the Blackstairs Mountains, with spectacular views, say the agents.
