Good deals in apartment hot spots

DEVELOPERS Frinailla are firing on many cylinders, with apartment schemes selling quickly in Midleton and Ballincollig in Co Cork, and with major residential and commercial plans in the planning process for Grand Parade and Watercourse Road in the city centre.

Fourteen of the 18 contemporary styled units at the water’s edge in Bailick, Midleton, have sold already with joint agents Barry Nagle of Global Properties and Maurice Ahern in Midleton, at prices ranging from €185,000 to €220,000, with the largest units left to sell.

Some have considerable wrap-around balconies, and run from 1,086 sq ft to 2,000 sq ft, with three bedrooms. Prices will be from €290,000, said Mr Nagle. Meanwhile, the same architect Richard Rainey has also designed the 53 apartments being built by Frinailla at An Caislean in Ballincollig, with an entrance off the Kilumney road.

All 196 townhouses and semis being built here sold in record time a year ago, at prices from €160,000 and €175,000. A couple of investors are likely to sell a small number of houses shortly, expected to fetch about €220,000/€240,000.

The apartments at An Caislean, measuring from 489 sq ft for a one-bed priced at €165,000 to two-beds of 717 sq ft to 857 sq ft, are selling at prices from €199,000 to €233,000.

The three blocks will have lift access, video phone entry, en suite main bedrooms and gas heating. A swift sell-out is again expected.
