Large property comes with lots of great features

MODELLED on a Wicklow hunting lodge, ‘Marchfield’ is a delicately wrought, but surprisingly large property close to Shanagarry in East Cork.

It sits on an acre site close to Ballynamona beach and has 3,700 square feet of space, including a number of reception rooms and five bedrooms.

Unusually, the house has a glass-roofed conservatory with solid block walls in a reversal of the current trend and its a big room at 18’ by 12’. Most of the rooms are this size, for instance, the main living room is 18’ by almost 14’ and is very bright, as are all the rooms in this house.

The main hallway has a reproduction Georgian staircase and floors here are tiled, it also includes a guest bathroom.

The dining area has a wooden floor and white marble fireplace and measures 16’ by 13’, while the kitchen has dimensions of 21’ by 15’. Also included on the ground floor is a study and a huge workshop/store which, as part of the house could be put to any use: this measures 33’ by 17’.

In comparison to other properties, all of the bedrooms are huge and the master alone is 24’ by 17’.

For the quality and level of finish, it could draw viewers from the city, as well as the surrounding areas and its good value at €600,000, says auctioneer, Miah McGrath, who’s handling the sale through McCarthy and McGrath.
