By-pass ensures healthy future for Fermoy scheme

WITH the new by-pass plan for Fermoy and a new River Blackwater crossing inching ahead, a new house development close to its path will proves the adage that development follows roads — and in this case precedes them.

The Manor is a scheme of 74 houses at Clondulane, just a mile or so downriver of the town of Fermoy, whose nightmarish traffic problems should ease once the proposed by-pass opens in a few years time.

Already, the Watergrasshill by-pass is complete, expediting travel from Cork city north along the N8 and bringing this development 25 miles from the city ‘mentally’ closer too.

Developer Rick FitzGerald of the Oran Group is behind this development of mixed house types, including terraced houses, semis, detached homes, apartments and retail units, with MMD Construction now on site.

At present, just nine terraced houses at the start of the site are being commenced and released for sale, with five already taken at prices starting at E155,000 for a three-bedroomed home of 968 sq ft. Rooms include living, kitchen dining, utility, guest WC, and three bedrooms and bathroom - no ensuite. Slightly large units of 1,030 sq ft, likely to be priced around E160,000, have marginally larger rooms and one en suite with a bedroom. Semis, when released, are likely to be in the mid E160,000s bracket.

Selling agent is Barry Nagle of Global Properties.
