Old face, young shoulders

THE old stone facade of an industrial building, at the foot of Lover’s Walk hill in Tivoli in Cork, has been retained in a new apartment development — sort of putting an old face on young shoulders.

The former Tivoli Spinners building, also used as a distillery store and serving too as a yard for architectural salvage, sold a year ago for €900,000.

Now, with full planning in hand for 20 apartments, the Stone Court scheme by Oyster Developments is being marketed by Brian Olden of Lisney who is well over the half way mark in sales.

Stone Court, over three floors, has seven remaining units two and three-bed units on the upper levels.

Units vary from 940 sq ft to 1,450 sq ft duplex apartments, with prices going from €240,000 to €360,000 (the one-beds sold at c€200,000 each).

Builders are Mangerton Construction of Killarney who previously did the Sheen Woods Development in Kenmare. Completion is due by year's end.

Meanwhile, Lisney also have two remaining apartments across the Lee at Castle Road in Blackrock, in a completed scheme of 16 two-bedroomed apartments. The finished units, at the Blackrock village end of the harbourside road are being sold fully furnished with integrated appliances right down to cutlery.

Apt no 12 on the second floor overlooking the water is priced at €270,000, and a ground floor unit to the rear is priced at €250,000.
