Harbour gem would hit the roof in Dublin
The town is packed with Victorian gems which, if they were in Dublin, would be fought over tooth and nail by the chattering classes.
Values have risen steadily in Cobh in the last decade, but still have a competitive edge compared to most other locations around the country.
Bayview House, overlooking the River Lee and Monkstown, is representative of the breed, a good, solid and largely renovated home on a fifth of an acre of gardens and with living space on four floors.
Price guide is €370,000 with DP O’Mahony in Cobh, less than €100,000 per floor, and there’s 2,200 sq ft of living space in the three main levels alone (the basement is unconverted and could suit as a self-contained granny flat with separate access).
Although it needs further work (central heating is solid fuel only), detached Bayview House has been re-roofed and rewired and has period features like ceiling cornicing, sash windows and fireplaces.
