Take your pick from residence or site at Owenabue estuary

HMMM, it's a toss up. House? Site? Or both? Up for sale right next to one another at the water's edge by the Owenabue estuary in Carrigaline in Co Cork is a bungalow on a one-third acre site.

Right next to it is a site of just under half an acre, and both options carry a price guide of €600,000 each, with independent estate agent Kathleen O'Shea.

She has just started viewing of the two adjoining properties, reached via the Riverside Estate, and the attractions of the extensive water frontage so close to the Cork harbour town suggest to her that a buyer may make a bid on both together to assemble a site of under an acre for a spectacular home. Or could it even suit a tasty niche scheme, subject to planning? Some who've viewed it already are checking out the options of mooring boats at the end of the garden and perhaps putting in a jetty to cope with the tidal drop, says the agent, who is selling the two properties for two members of the one family.

The existing residence in off the Church Road (which leads on toward Currabinny) is a bungalow, Heron's Reach, and this waterfront home has three bedrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen, utility, and bathroom, and the house has central heating.

Although well-presented and kept, it is likely to be further invested in, extended, altered or upgraded to match the current demand for water side residential sites.

The properties, house and site, have views across the river/estuary to Carrigaline's GAA pitch on the Crosshaven road: buy now, and you could even be in with a chance to rent out the bungalow for Cork Week's sailing extravaganza this July.
