Develop a Close attraction

THE name has a ring to it a Hollywood star, a certain element of danger, something to knock the spots off the opposition.

Develop a Close attraction

A niche house development in Banteer, North Cork has a familiar sound Glen Close, indistinguishable to the ear from the actress Glenn Close.

She starred as Cruella De Ville in 101 Dalmations, and kept up her evil, or at least unsettling, persona in movies like Dangerous Liaisons and Fatal Attraction, the movie that threatened to knock adultery of the list of 10 favourite sins and lifted bunny rabbit boiling out of the pages of Mrs Beeton.

This Glen Close is altogether a safer affair: it is a scheme of six slightly different sized dormer bungalows from just under 1,100 sq ft to over 1,200 sq ft, and priced from €175,000.

"The prices quoted provide for a basic, well finished house. The first is largely complete, and the other five will have a degree of flexibility in the internal layout," says Declan Groeger of F&V Sheahan.

Builders are Kiely Cafferkey, and the houses have a brick facade, low maintenance exterior, oil heating, living room, kitchen, lounge, ground floor bedroom plus bathroom, three first floor bedrooms (one en suite) and main bathroom. Site sizes are one sixth of an acre.

Banteer is in the Duhallow/Blackwater region, Cork city is about 30 miles away and Hollywood is but a dream away.
