Seaview to tempt buyers to a coastal lifestyle

A WAVE of buyers is swamping the south Cork coastline, reckoning the trip to the city (and through Carrigaline too!) is a lifestyle choice worth making.

Full-time living demand for family homes has driven up prices of houses here to the west of Cork harbour and about 15 miles from the city: you pay for your seaside pleasures and views.

Coming into the fray at the upper end of the local price scale is Seaview at least one of the houses called Seaview, and this one is at Stoney Boreen in Myrtleville.

It has been a slow build process, but the house is now completed and up for sale with a €740,000 price tag quoted by Pierce Cuthbert of Property Choice in Cork city. He says an incentive for buyers should be a reduced stamp duty rate as it is a new-build.

Its site is as elevated as the achievable price guide, and this loftiness above the beach at Myrtleville gives it a sweep of sea views. The site is a good three-quarters of an acre or so and the big, muscular c2,800 sq ft dormer (with added attic room) has balconies, patios and decking for outdoor dining and views.

According to Mr Cuthbert, it has been built and finished "to the highest standards, with exceptional craftsmanship and no cost spared."

Front door is oak, and flooring in the large family room is also solid oak, with views spilling out to the sea.

Both the family and main reception rooms have good fireplaces, there's a ground floor bathroom, good utility with controls for the zoned heating system, and the kitchen has Shaker-style units, a slate floor and new integrated appliances. Capitalising on the setting and aspect, this room has two sets of patio doors to the deck, beckoning for al fresco meals.

The first floor is home to three very large bedrooms, two with ensuite bathrooms.

The top floor, reached from the landing via a wrought iron spiral staircase, is a large crow's nest perch with Velux window and spotlighting in the sloping apex roof.
