€270,000 for smart apartment with Victorian echoes

THE SMA seminary at Victoria Cross on the Western Road in Cork was one of the first apartment schemes in an area which now has a fair share of student developments.

And Victoria Lodge was initially run as an upmarket bed and breakfast before being redeveloped entirely into self-contained accommodation units.

On landscaped grounds close to the River Lee and 10 minutes’ walk from the city, this redevelopment is still an attractive buy.

Right now, Paul Scannell of Keane Mahony Smith is asking €270,000 for a really smart two-bedroomed unit at No 10 Victoria Lodge.

With 750 square feet of space, the unit is finished to a very high standard, he says, and the management company does a top-class job.

The main living area is open plan with quality wooden floor, modern furniture and a fitted kitchen area.

Both bedrooms, with ample power and TV points, share a main bathroom and there are communal grounds outside.

Victoria Lodge is well situated on the western approach to Cork city within walking distance of UCC and the Bon Secours Hospital. The development is also a brisk 10-minute walk from the city centre and the Wilton shopping centre and is served by a number of city bus routes.

Mr Scannell says this first-floor apartment is a turn-key opportunity for an owner occupier or an investor.
