Burning issue

COUNTRY-DWELLERS are now told it is illegal to have a bonfire, even if it is just a small garden one.

Burning issue

There are reports of helicopters scouring the countryside for evidence of people innocently burning non-toxic garden branches, etc.

Is there one law for those living in the country and another for those in towns who are seemingly allowed to have large bonfires on specific days of the years with little, if any, control as to what is being burnt?

If one sector is being prosecuted and fined from €800-€1,000 for having a bonfire, then the law has to be applied equally to all sectors. There is no equality or justice in the way the law is being interpreted at the moment.
