What’s so wrong with Kenny’s policy on Irish?
Did the Fine Gael leader propose abolishing it? No.
Did he propose that it not be an examination subject in the Leaving Cert? No.
As far as I can ascertain, all Mr Kenny wanted to change was having an Irish examination compulsory in the Leaving Cert.
I was surprised the Taoiseach did not back Mr Kenny as it was his Government that removed Irish as a necessary requirement for applying for membership of the Garda.
Likewise, it was amusing to see someone fluent in both Irish and English, Mr Kenny, being criticised by someone, Mr Ahern, who is fluent in neither.
