FOR the last couple of weeks our Government has been the subject of a scandal a day, whether it’s drink-driving, tax evasion, or problems with refurbishments on major buildings.

The PDs, or “Potential Democrats” as I now call them, who promised us during last year’s election campaign that they would be the watchdog on the Fianna Fáil engine, are doing nothing about it.

With such shame on Bertie Ahern’s ministers, and dissent within the ranks, the only honourable action for the Taoiseach would be to resign and call a general election. Then we’ll see whose promises the people trust.
