Attack on airports plan was grossly unfair

SENATOR Feargal Quinn recently informed his Seanad colleagues that autonomy for Cork and Shannon airports “will be singled out as one of the great follies of our time”.

What nonsense. It is the same as saying that if Superquinn was a subsidiary of Dunnes Stores, it would have been allowed to expand to what it is today.

I believe the senator was indulging in a grossly unfair evaluation of Transport Minister Seamus Brennan’s admirable work to afford Shannon and Cork airports the chance to achieve their enormous potential.
