Why immigration is a cause for concern

IN your issue of February 3, an article on the front page, and two others inside, highlighted the growing racist attitudes of the Irish.

Why immigration is a cause for concern

It was curious to note that of the 14 domestic crimes reported that day, in the same issue, six (ranging from fraud to sexual offences) were committed by recently arrived non-nationals, five were by unidentified persons and three were committed by Irish citizens.

Given the percentage of nationals to non-nationals, perhaps this can explain some of the mistrust arising from the biggest ever influx of immigrants to this State.

Perhaps the National Consultative Committee on Racism and Interculturalism will suggest that I, like some taxi drivers, should undergo “racism and intercultural awareness” reprogramming for pointing out this fact?
