Columnist gets it right on nursing homes issue

I HAVE never read such a well-balanced article as that by your columnist Ryle Dwyer on the nursing home charges controversy (Irish Examiner, March 5).
Columnist gets it right on nursing homes issue

The issue has received such massive publicity it needed someone to take it back to earth, and he rightly said the “law is an ass” in this instance.

One aspect that should end the political football is that of the 12 Ministers of Health from 1976 to date, half of them were from parties other than Fianna Fáil. Ryle’s reference to the army deafness claims was also very apt.

For nursing home patients to get 20% of their pensions would be adequate.

In spite of the balanced views expressed by your columnist, I think it will be difficult to count the numbers of queued-up relatives of nursing home patients, living and dead.
