Minister should rethink curb on anglers

HAVING read about the latest directive from the Minister for the Marine (Irish Examiner, August 3) I feel compelled to put my views in writing.

Minister should rethink curb on anglers

It is amazing that a short time after the closure of the salmon netting season, in which the nets took up to half a million (yes, 500,000) salmon out of the system, the minister puts a stop to the rod anglers killing a fish for the table.

We are getting used to strange directives but this one from the coalition for stupidity must surely take the biscuit.

Does the Minister not know or care what this will do to the tourist angling over the whole country? If he does not I suggest he rings around the many groups providing angling tourism. I’m sure they’ll only be too glad to tell him.
