I READ a complaint by Jim Desmond (Irish Examiner letters, August 28) that Páidí Ó Sé's assailant at the All-Ireland football semi-final was not prosecuted because he was an ex-garda.

This is untrue. Mr Ó Sé made light of the incident and refused to press charges. Mr Desmond’s cynicism towards our police force is completely unjustified.
