Tenor adds his voice to the campaign chorus
Over 400 performers were conducted by Dr Geoffrey Spratt, the school’s director.
This concert was to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the school .
As a former student of the school, where I studied piano, French horn and singing, I have no doubt that the excellent tuition afforded me there, together with the dedication and encouragement of my teachers, steered me towards the path of my chosen career, which is opera singing.
The performance given by choirs and orchestra on the night was wholly deserving of the thunderous applause and standing ovation given by the capacity audience and showed in no small way why Cork was chosen as European City of Culture for 2005.
To those in control of the national finances I would endorse the plea of so many more and say, “please give Cork School of Music the new building it so richly deserves.”
