To describe the safe escape of all passengers and crew from the Air France jet at Toronto’s Pearson Airport as a miracle (Irish Examiner, August 3) is an insult to the manufacturers of the Airbus and to the crew of the plane.
Much thought goes into the construction of modern aircraft to make them as safe as possible, even in the event of an accident as severe as the one in Toronto. Crews are also trained to evacuate such an aircraft in minimum time.
That all occupants got out safely is thanks to the skill of the aircraft manufacturers and the dedication of the crew, and not to some supernatural power.
