CSO publishes crime figures: Poor sex results
Even in an age of what seems relentless grade inflation in our education system a strike rate of 11% is far beyond the pale. Yet, that is the ratio of sex offences reported to the gardaà last year that have been solved. Put it the other way around.
Nine-out-of-ten of those implicated in a sexual offence in 2018 faced no consequences. Some of course may be innocent but that figure hardly inspires confidence in the system, offers any real comfort to victims or speaks well of this society’s commitment to protecting the victims of these attacks.
