Water conservation - Fees could lead to protests

Proposals to impose excessive usage charges on households that waste water have been approved by the Commission for Regulation of Utilities.

The commission says the measure is designed to promote conservation while Irish Water, which sought the charges, insists that it is not meant as a revenue charging device.
