Health staff shortages - A hard call
It seems fair to describe our health service as a multi-faceted challenge that might be best resolved by facing one set of difficulties at a time.
The IMO and the INMO yesterday issued statements on the staffing shortfalls. Each said urgent action is needed if further crisis is to be averted. The doctors said that HSE figures suggesting that 300 consultants are needed undershot the mark and that almost 500 were required. The INMO said at least 200 nurses are needed in emergency wards.
