HSE recruitment: More white collars than white coats

The only thing that appears to be rising faster than the number of HSE managers is the number of patients left on hospital trolleys amid a shortage of nurses.

It is a major concern that in the past year alone the health service has recruited a far greater proportion of administration and managerial staff than many of those destined for the frontline in our hospitals and community care.
