Boys’ murders - Deadly failure to tackle juvenile crime

WHAT’S going wrong in Irish society? The perennial question takes on heightened relevance in light of the horrendous murders of two boys for their mobile phones.

The only saving aspect of this appalling scenario is that justice has been done and two teenage thugs have been found guilty.

Tragically, 14-year-old Daragh Conroy from Co Laois was bludgeoned to death with a hammer by a 16-year-old for his phone. His remorseless killer, Darren Goodwin, was yesterday sentenced to detention for life.
