Alcohol disorder plan - Drink abuse not unique to Ireland

ANOTHER measure proposed in Britain yesterday, and which inevitably will be considered here, is something called Alcohol Disorder Zones (ADZs), targeted at pubs and clubs.

In the current debate here on the introduction of café bars and anti-social behaviour orders, it offers an interesting alternative to consider in view of the opposition to both these proposals here.

No doubt publicans would object to them, because licensed premises would be made to contribute to the cost of controlling alcohol-related disorder in areas where binge-drinking is an issue.
