Education should be a partnership

AFTER more than a year in preparation, the new Teaching Council will be formally launched today and, unfortunately, it seems its arrival will be marked by a ready-made controversy.

Education should be a partnership

The basis for the potential argument within the council, which will be inaugurated by Education Minister Mary Hanafin, is whether it or the minister should be responsible for a major review of teacher training.

Education should be a partnership to provide the best, and most appropriate, curriculum for trainee teachers because it will be largely their function to inculcate standards in pupils and students of the future.
