The fact of the matter is that divorce is a reality here and marriages were, unfortunately, breaking up ever before it was voted in by a sliver of a majority in the referendum and made available since 1997.

Five years later, there were 35,059 divorced people and 98,770 separated living in the country, and since that year 2002 the average number of divorces granted every year is 3,700.
