THE unselfish bravery of an eight-year-old Limerick girl, who underwent three bone marrow operations to save the lives of her brothers, is a glowing example of what courage is all about.

In marked contrast with the seemingly endless stream of bad news emanating from the city, much of it undeserved, her award as 2003 Limerick Person of the Year is a highly positive reflection on the entire community.

Fittingly, she received her award from President Mary McAleese, who paid tribute to those people whose lives are committed to making Limerick a vibrant success, commercially, culturally and educationally.
